Haircut [ The August Break #06 ]

I bet you can’t guess who inspired this haircut.

I woke up this morning to a dozen roses.
So I had to clean my desk.

We just returned from camping… only 30 minutes out of town, but at the foot of the mountains.

Amélie said “cheese” at the camera for the very first time. Proof.

This is Amélie’s little collection of toys. She also has a table with 2 chairs, a bookshelf, and a rocking chair… but we keep her amount of plastic-distractions down to a minimum. She spends the majority of her time mimicking me doing chores and walking back and forth on the porch outside, so her current play area is more than enough. I pack away half her toys and rotate them every month or so.

I’m back (after an eternity), while still taking a lil vacation from true posting. I’m starting off the month of August by participating in “The August Break 2011“, which means I’m going to take on the challenge of posting a photo for each day of the month.

The San Juan River is just 3 blocks from our house — so yesterday we took a little bike ride on the river-walk and hung out on “the beach” for a couple hours. Cold water, but SO nice in the heat of the day. The Pisces baby didn’t have any complaints.

Twig & Thistle shared a download & print box for sweet little turnovers last year: click here! Possibly use this recipe?

I don’t take part in it, and I barely want to watch, but I do love it when Chris gets to boiling his skulls for his art, because it’s just so wicked and sexy in a completely dirty, decaying kind of way. Plus, we have such a great view to be inspired by during the rotten deed. By the way! We just finished his website last week!

My sister bought all the females in my family an Uncalendar for Christmas, and I’d like to say it’s changing my life… but more about that at a later date.
I’m not entirely sure, because I really only speak English… but I think Freunde von Freunden is kinda like the Selby, who I stock regularly.
Duh! It ain’t no coincidence that I named my baby Amélie! Micmacs is his newest, and although I wouldn’t watch it every-other-month like some movies I wont name, it is quite entertaining.

Notes from my sweetie! Peggy’s article on why Play is so important!! New Computer!!! Baking new dishes (like Cordon Bleu, curried lamb & rice, and pot pie)!!!! & of course, without a doubt, Gala Darling: I’ve been reading her blog for 3 years now, can you believe it?!

I don’t know anyone who isn’t pinching pennies right now — besides my sister who never pinches her pennies no matter if she needs to pinch them or not, it runs in our blood! Anyhoo, I’ve been collecting ideas for thrifty gift wrapping this year, and here are some winners I wanted to share…

Fold your own newspaper gift bags– duh!

Learn Furoshiki: Save the environment and a buck.

Ruby over at Cakies has a great series of gift wrapping posts too. She’s wrapping in thrift with tissue paper, trimming, various upcycled paper, & yarn! Too cool.

Make your own pillow boxes: Upcycle!!
I’m almost done wrapping all my gifts using old pattern paper and sewing trimmings I found at the Thrift store. I’m not sure if I saved any money though… oh well! These presents are too cute and totally worth it!!!
