Around the house #001

It’s pouring down rain here, during Hanks normal afternoon dog walk, so I’m stompin’ around in my birthday heels while I can.  I made meatloaf.  Chris thinks I’m a “weirdo” for taking pictures in his studio of my feet next to his art.  Whatever!

Last night was my Best Friend No. Two’s last night in town before moving to Cali Cali, so she invited me over for some scrumptious food and a beading session.  Actually, she didn’t bead, she made zucchini bars while her sister, Bestsy, and I beaded… which is very like her to sacrifice creating fashion jewelry for sweets (the zucchini bars were filled with chocolate and topped with frosting).

I love my necklace!!  Although, I can only wear it while Amélie’s asleep or if I ever go out or else she might pull all the charms off.  It’s also extremely difficult to keep from getting tangled.

Meal Planner

I saw this meal planner on Kennalyn.com and loved the sleek design.  However, I couldn’t justify spending money on it when I’m a graphic designer and could do it myself, and make it look like ME!  So I designed my own and am posting it here to share!  Lucky you!

Making Natural Cleaning Products

Natural cleaning products are safe, work well, & you can save money by avoiding the toxic ones at the store! And these recipes are oh so easy…

CREAMY SOFT SCRUB
Use it on counters, sinks & tubes. Rinses easy & doesn’t leave grit!
• Pour 1/2 cup baking soda in a bowl
• Add liquid soap until it is as thick as frosting

WINDOW CLEANER
Put all ingredients into spray bottle, & shake to mix:
• 1/2 tsp liquid soap
• 3 tbsp white vinegar
• 2 cups water

ALL-PURPOSE CLEANER
Put all ingredients into spray bottle & shake until washing soda dissolves:
• 1/2 squirt liquid soap
• 1/2 tsp washing soda (like Arm & Hammer brand, found near laundry detergents)
Apply and wipe off with sponge or rag.

OVEN CLEANER
• Sprinkle water over the bottom of the over. Cover with backing soda (grime should be totally white). Sprinkle more water on top.
• Let sit overnight. Wipe off with sponge or rag. Use a little liquid soap on stubborn spots.
(If it doesn’t work, you haven’t used enough water or baking soda.)

FURNITURE POLISH
• 1/2 tsp olive oil
• 1/4 cup white vinegar or fresh lemon juice
Mix in a glass jar. Dab a soft rag into mixture & spread onto wood surface.
Cover glass gar and store for later.

MOLD KILLER
• 2 tsp tea tree oil
• 2 cups water
Combine in spray bottle, shake to mix. Spray on moldy areas. Do not rinse.

DISHWASHER DETERGENT
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 2 tsp liquid dish soap
Make a thick paste & use it like any other detergent.
You can use pure white vinegar as a rinse aid!
