WISHLISTS: My Birthday

Now that I’m a Mama, I know that there isn’t much use in making a birthday wishlist because now I’m the one who fulfills the wishes… but I thought I’d give it a go anyhow.  There is still my mama anyhow, and my dear “husband” who quite possibly could score some unexpected cash just in time!  September the thirteenth I’ll be twenty-three.

  1. Easy Indian Cookbook: The Step-by-Step Guide to Deliciously Easy Indian Food at Home“, please!  Don’t you want me to eat well?  & the book will just be bathroom reading material without the spices: Ajwan Seed, Black Indian Salt, Cardamom, Garam Massala, Methi Leaves, and Mustard Seed.
  2. The Applause UAE20 Acoustic-Electric Deluxe Mini Ukulele is my dream uke at the moment, but givin that I don’t actually know how to play the ukulele yet… I would probably do just fine with a uke for half the price.  The thing is is that my mom has two ukuleles that sit in storage and never get played and I’d just LOVE one of those!  Hint. Hint.
  3. Now I’ve been wanting the Capezio Theatrical Footlight Heels since I first went Salsa dancing in Bolivia, which was really only a year ago… but I could probably dance salsa for two full days if I had the right shoes.  I know they don’t look much like a Latin dance shoe, but they’re more my style.  And now that I’m taking salsa lessons, I can justify owning them!!
  4. Because I am such a good internet shopper, I can buy like 3 outfits, a couple pairs of tights, and a cute bag for under $100 at Forever 21.  Can you imagine how much happiness a Forever 21 Gift Card would bring to a poverty-stricken girl like me?  And all my panties are from there too… except a pair I got from Victoria’s Secret 4 years ago.  I don’t have any F21 panties that are 4 years old, which goes to show that happiness lies in a Victoria’s Secret Gift Card.
  5. During my first year of college I bought this beautiful matte black Kona Smoke bike so I wouldn’t have to buy a car.  Then I bought a car 4 months later.  But the point is that I miss that bike, and I can’t ride it with a baby on my hip… and I heard that the iBert Safe-T Front Mounted Child Bicycle Seat is the bomb and I neeeeed ittt!!  And then Amélie will need a sweet chickidee helmet.

My Mad Hatter Baby Shower!

This Sunday was my Mad Hatter tea party co-ed baby shower!  I invited over 100 people on accident by way of Facebook, but thankthelordabove that only a fraction of them showed up.  The women came at 1:30-ish, and the boys started showing up at 3, after all the cutesie gift-opening went on.

One of the coolest things about the party was the onesie-painting.  Chris and I both being artists, it only seemed natural to do something creative.

My host, Drie suggested that we set up a tie-dye station, but Chris reminded us that then our baby would have to wear tie-dye (heaven forbid!!)… so I was hoping to do the Elmer’s Glue batik glue resist thing, but we couldn’t find the glue anywhere in town, which was probably all for the better since that would have been much too involved.  We ended up filling Dixie cups with a dollup of acrylic paint, and then watered it down so the paint wouldn’t dry so stiff.  It was awesome what my guests came up with, and I’m sure you’ll see lots of Baby in the decorated onesies in the near future!

Opening the presents was MY favorite part, mostly because we didn’t really have Christmas at home this year, and myself being the baby of the family, it was hard not opening many presents for the holidays (boo hooo).  I probably didn’t invite enough middle-age women to totally score at the shower, but I did get a bunch of really cute smaller things… like the socks above from my sister-in-law’s mother.  My 2-year-old niece, Betty, came running up and in the picture she’s saying “little shoes!” which was the cutest thing she said all day.

I did score an Ergo!!!  Probably the most important thing on my baby registry, bought by my ex boyfriend’s mama, who I love very much.  I knew it was coming, but it was still a highlight of the day.

Above, the “preggos of the party”… but really only Summer and I are pregnant.  Drie, my best friend in the middle, is going to school for costume design and decided to wear a pregnant suit to host my shower in.  It was pretty funny because people were talking behind her back the whole time, unsure when she “got pregnant”.  Only a few people approached her about it!!  She also made our hats, mine was my Christmas present.  And, yes, I can see through my eyes when I smile!
